La Fiesta!
14 February to 10 March 2019

The Women's Network is proud to coordinate this festival, and so much more, in Whanganui

The Women's Network is a great little community agency that achieves big things with a huge amount of heart. As a cheerleading service for women we provide all sorts of activities and services that create positive change.
Our team is lead by our Manager, Carla Donson. Carla has 15 years of experience in the role, and prior to that came from education and youth development. In 2016 Carla was selected as one of the top 100 women in the country at the Westpac Women of Influence Awards, and was also awarded a Local Hero Medal for the Manawatu-Whanganui region in the Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year Awards. She is well-regarded in the Whanganui community, and also writes a regular column for the Whanganui Midweek newspaper. La Fiesta is Carla's "brain-child" and she coordinates the festival annually. It takes months of preparation, and with a whole heap of enthusiasm, the community helps to make it happen.
The Women's Network is a registered charity that is  governed by a Committee, and we have a diverse team that represents the community. With over thirty years operating in Whanganui, we also work in partnership with a variety of other community agencies, and have representation on advisory groups with the Whanganui District Council and Whanganui District Health Board.
At the Women's Network we believe that every woman is a wonder woman. Maintaining wellness is a big part of our focus. Many of the women that connect with us make contact to share their successes, and we love seeing women thrive. We also spend a lot of time cheerleading for women when the chips are down. It's our privilege to walk alongside folk when life is a bit rough and tough. We can assist women with making an action plan for change, identifying repeating patterns of behaviour that need some tweaking, and encouraging healthier decision-making.

If you live in Whanganui, you can find us located in the iconic Ladies' Rest Building, right next door to the Royal Wanganui Opera House in St Hill Street. We are the only drop-in service for women in Whanganui, as well as the only provider that works with women at all ages and stages across the lifespan. Our team can provide online or phone support if you live outside the region. We have supported people all around the world via online chats and confidentiality is guaranteed.

Drop in and see us during the week: Tuesday 10am-12pm; Wednesday/Thurs/Friday 10am-2pm; appointments are available outside of these times [Monday by appointment only]. Phone: [06] 345 6833.
